Paint

There are so many things to follow going on in our lives right now. We'll start with a few and go from there. As always we live in a construction zone. We have owned our house for a year now (Woohoo, happy house owning anniversary to us!) and so many things have changed in that year. The most recent "construction" project is the painting of the exterior of our house. The easy thing to do would have been to fork over $2K and have someone else come in and paint for us. They would have been done in 3 days tops and we would have been moving on with our lives. That is NOT how we roll. We pride ourselves in our abilities to do things ourselves and didn't relish in the idea of handing over that much money for something we are perfectly capable of doing. After 7 solid weeks of absolutely no moisture, being in Extreme Fire danger and 15 wildfires burning in our state we assumed it was a great time to paint. We took a peek at the weather report and decided to go for it. Addam spent weeks, a good portion of those 7 dry weeks, getting the house ready to paint. He caulked every gap, nailed siding boards down, touched up the stucco, and sealed any hole he could find.. I'm sure the neighbors were quite irritated with us considering how terrible our house looked for so long with the white splotches of caulking all over it. So, we finally got to the "paint" part of painting the house. A few hours into painting, the clouds started to roll in. Considering the dry spell we were in, we didn't think much of them. Then the thunder rolled, hmm time to get off the ladder. A full inch of rain later and we were inside for the remainder of the day hoping the paint was dry enough that we wouldn't have to redo anything. Addam had taken a few days off work to paint, and it was raining. We took a closer look and sure enough RAIN every afternoon for the foreseeable future..10 days. Addam proceeded to paint in the mornings and managed to quit just before the rain started every day. He's now back to work, the stucco is painted, 2/3 of the siding is painted, and the trim is still waiting. I'm sure our neighbors are quite disgusted with the current appearance of our paint job. Oh well, we'll get there.
